Absolut Care of Aurora Park Employee Receives Statewide Nursing Scholarship

East Aurora, NY – Absolut Care of Aurora Park announced today that Anna Holland has received the James D. Durante Nursing Scholarship from the Foundation for Quality Care.
Holland, a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant, is also a full-time nursing student at Genesee Community College. She began studying to become a Registered Nurse three years after beginning her employment with Absolut Care of Aurora Park in 2004.
“I am so excited to receive this scholarship. As the first person in my family to pursue a college education, being awarded this honor is both financial and personal motivation to continue my studies and obtain my RN license,” said Holland.
She will travel to Lake Placid to formally accept the $1,000 scholarship on June 22, 2010 at the New York State Health Facilities Association convention. Her anticipated graduation date is December 15, 2011.
The James D. Durante Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial support to nursing students pursuing careers in long term care. It provides for multiple $1,000 scholarships annually for individuals entering or completing an accredited program to obtain Registered Nurse licensure or a Registered Nurse student pursing an advanced degree in nursing or advanced nursing practice licensure. The Foundation for Quality Care is a subsidiary corporation of the New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA).
Absolut Care Facilities Management is located in East Aurora, NY. The company operates eleven short and long term care facilities as well as one adult assistive living community. Absolut Care has a total of 1,422 licensed beds and employs 1,500 full and part time employees across Upstate New York.
