As an exciting start to the new year, the Absolut Care facilities are fortunate to be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine for the protection of our residents and staff.
With COVID-19 cases still on the rise locally and nationally, we continue to work closely with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Who will administer the vaccine?
The vaccine is being administered in-house by representatives from Walgreens and CVS, which have contracted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the CDC.
What is the process for a staff member or resident to receive a vaccine?
All staff and residents must give consent in the form of a phone call, email, or in writing before receiving the vaccine. Responsible parties for the residents have been contacted, and information is posted on our website here.
What is the timeline for vaccine deployment?
To date, the vaccine has been rolled out at all of our nursing facilities and will be available at our assisted living facility on January 22nd. Second clinics are being held, as required, three weeks after the facility’s initial clinic, with a third clinic scheduled after that. While we’re in this process, we will continue all of our current infection control practices, as recommended by the CDC, until otherwise directed.
We maintain open communication with employees, residents and family members as we continue the vaccination process.
